Dogs and CatsA leash law is in effect for all of Montgomery County. Rabies shots are required for all dogs along with a license. This can be obtained from a local vet. Please don’t allow your dog to run loose or leave “deposits” on a neighbor’s yard or in the greenways. Please pick up after your dog. There are biodegradable bag dispensers at the intersection of Florida and Raymond Streets and at Fulton and Shepherd Streets. Our community park (Gazebo Park) has specified hours for owners and their dogs. Currently they are 7:00 - 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. Please be sure to clean up after your dog when using the park as children play there at other times. Please think of your neighbors if your dog tends to bark a great deal. There are collars that can be obtained to control this behavior, or the dogs can be kept inside so the noise doesn’t bother as many people. Should you decide to put up an invisible fence, be certain to notify your neighbors so that they aren’t fearful that your pet will go beyond your property boundaries. There is a no trespassing law in the County for all dogs and cats, which means that unless you have permission from your neighbor, your animal cannot go on another’s property. For outdoor cats, this is more of a problem than for dogs who are supposed to be leashed anyway. If an animal is on someone’s private property, they can legally capture or trap the animal and take it to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. If the animal is trespassing, then you may get a warning, a $100 fine and if it’s a second offense, a $500 fine! Please be careful with our animals and contact the Village Manager if you have a missing pet before you call the Animal Shelter. |
